Marked deficits in glucose availability, or glucoprivation, elicit organism-wide counter-regulatory responses whose purpose is to restore homeostasis. However, while catecholamine neurons of the ventrolateral medulla (VLMCA) are thought orchestrate these responses, circuit and cellular mechanisms underlying specific largely unknown.
